THE KING ANNOUNCES A CELEBRATION: SUNDAY, 30 AUGUST 2015!!!
                                          NOON SLT

The King announces that he will host a great celebration at Noon SLT on Sunday, 30 August. Festivities will include a Royal Hunt in the Palace, open to all inhabitants, dance events, where Livia and Afraa will teach Sonia and Cindy how to perform, and a grand feast at the Delicious Syrup Inn/Tavern. Tavern Servant Cindy and Minister Magdy promise a delicious dining experience, including crumb, bosk, tuna, and verr skewers. Reserve this date!

The celebration will mark the completion of the renovation of the entire sim and is open to all inhabitants. The chief honoree is Kingdom Architect Princess Livia, but there will be some other awards given to Kingdom inhabitants whose loyalty and hard work have earned them recognition.

Renovations or new constructions have included  the Landing Area, the Delicious Syrup Inn/Tavern, the shops, the Library, the Medical Centre, the Common Houses, the Palace, the Royal Garden, the Belly Dance Temple, the Bath House, the Mine and the Farm. Though others contributed time and ideas, the overwhelming burden of work was carried by Princess Livia, who did an astonishing job.

All hail our honoree on Sunday: Princess Livia Ashi!

THE FARM AND THE MINE: CENTRAL TO KALAHARI'S WEALTH

The engine that drives the Kalahari economy is the productive complex that citizens know as the Farm and the Mine. Overseen by Princess Livia and Minister Magdy Ashi, and staffed by slaves Abu and Gabi, these twin powerhouses produce most of the material wealth that allows the King to provide housing, medical care, and nutritious food not just to citizens but to slaves as well.

In addition, the recent extensive renovations to the Kingdom were possible because of the profits made from our Mining and Farming enterprises. While future editions of the Chronicles will study the economic impact of the Farm and the Mine in greater detail, for now it is enough to note that our recent diplomatic initiatives to the Micronations have as a major goal opening up new markets for our agricultural and mining exports.

MEDIEVAL MURMURS

The Kingdom's Ministry of External Relations has been busy with talks involving various nations and information services. The latest round of talks are scheduled with Susannah Clare, Shimutoji's Ambassador to Kalahari.

Evidently the security apparatus of the Ministry for External Relations has also been active lately, though Minister al Abid, usually quite talkative, remained close lipped on that part of the Ministry's operations.

In addition there were rumors that the King had taken sick, and he was not seen at his usual late evening audience for all the inhabitants of the Kingdom. But the Palace issued a strong statement on the matter, declaring in part that the King was "hearty enough to lift up over his head the Emir of Kuwar," which certainly is a testimony to the strength and vigor of our ruler!

The Belly Dance Temple has been completed, and King Hassan will soon furnish it.
