Kalahari Herald Chronicles 31 August 2015 1#33

DAILY NEWS FROM MAMLAKAT KALAHARI   31 August 2015

Since the founding of the Kalahari Herald Chronicles, many people from the Kingdom and elsewhere have come up to me and said: "Afraa, you are marvelous. You are lovely, intelligent, sexy, wise and a nice person, and now you have dreamed up the Kalahari Herald Chronicles. Brilliant!"

Wrong!

Well, not totally wrong, of course: that stuff about lovely, intelligent, sexy, wise, and nice, that is all true. ahahahaha and add modest to the list!

BUT

The real inspiration behind the founding of the Kalahari Herald Chronicles was none other than Princess Prith, sister to the King, and the Minister of Justice for Kalahari.

I had been searching for some vehicle to tell the story of Kalahari, and Princess Prith encouraged me to develop the scrolls that became the Chronicles. Not only that, she guided me to the place of wisdom where I learned how to make the scrolls myself, even though I had never even dreamed of such a thing.

So, on behalf of all the loyal readers of the Kalahari Herald Chronicles, I salute Princess Prith Ibn Trrrol, our Inspiration! Not only is she a great Warrior, leading Kalahari's armies in far distant lands, and not just a demanding Mistress, she is also the Muse who inspired the founding of the Chronicles.

King Hassan Appoints Cindy Manager of the Delicious Syrup Inn/Tavern

Since her first appearance in the Kingdom, Tavern Servant Cindy has been exemplary in her behavior. Hard working, taking on even the most difficult tasks, cleaning, cooking, greeting visitors and honored customers, Cindy has been a model of loyalty and fidelity.

King Hassan is keenly aware of those qualities. Yesterday, he decorated Cindy for her service, and today, as a result of that service, and on the recommendation of Minister of Entertainment Afraa, he promoted her to full-time Manager of the Inn/Tavern.

Now Cindy can maintain her supply links with the Farm, so that patrons of the Tavern can enjoy the finest (G&S) cuisine, from farm to table in minutes, fresher than any other food in all of Second Life! And she can continue to greet guests, manage resources, and build community, as she has from the start of her habitation in the Kingdom.

Welcome to our new Manager Cindy!

And in her first moves as Manager, Cindy seems to have employed a very diverse group of chefs to be trained to prepare the very best dishes for all the Tavern patrons. (Many thanks to Princess Livia for her gift of Chef "Hats" for these apprentice cooks. And Dr. Eagor promises that he has many healing syrups and draughts to cure varieties of stomach ailments!)

Medieval Murmurs

There are rumblings in faraway lands that concern the King and his Court. Princess Prith and her conquering army has not been heard from for a while. Kuwar is undergoing structural changes in its government. Some other Micronations are in a state of war. We thank God that the King has steered us in such a diplomatic way that we are not drawn into foreign conflicts except when we choose.

KALAHARI KINGDOM: THE DREAM

Yes, it truly is a place, a reality---Kalahari Kingdom. It can be found on a medieval map of Africa, There are physical buildings of great beauty, there is a landscape that is pleasing to the eye.

It is a place where Community is built at the Delicious Syrup Inn and Tavern, and Art created at the Belly Dance Temple.

Creative and happy citizens and slaves work hard on the Farm and in the Mine, and take their leisure in the steamy Bath House.

The Bath House with the Farm and Mine in the Background
The inspiration for this reality comes from the dream of one man, the King of Kalahari, Hassan Ibn Trrrol, who has set opposite his Place not some excessive fantasy built on the blood, sweat, and tears of his people, but a Library, a place of learning, where all can be inspired.

The Palace, the Library, and the Riches of Kalahari

KALAHARI KINGDOM: THE EMBODIMENT

Because no one better lives the dream of Kalahari Kingdom than Princess Livia Ashi, the King honored her with a great feast for her enormous contributions to the Kingdom:

                                          NOON SLT

The King announces that he will host a great celebration at Noon SLT on Sunday, 30 August. Festivities will include a Royal Hunt in the Palace, open to all inhabitants, dance events, where Livia and Afraa will teach Sonia and Cindy how to perform, and a grand feast at the Delicious Syrup Inn/Tavern. Tavern Servant Cindy and Minister Magdy promise a delicious dining experience, including crumb, bosk, tuna, and verr skewers. Reserve this date!

The celebration will mark the completion of the renovation of the entire sim and is open to all inhabitants. The chief honoree is Kingdom Architect Princess Livia, but there will be some other awards given to Kingdom inhabitants whose loyalty and hard work have earned them recognition.

Renovations or new constructions have included  the Landing Area, the Delicious Syrup Inn/Tavern, the shops, the Library, the Medical Centre, the Common Houses, the Palace, the Royal Garden, the Belly Dance Temple, the Bath House, the Mine and the Farm. Though others contributed time and ideas, the overwhelming burden of work was carried by Princess Livia, who did an astonishing job.

All hail our honoree on Sunday: Princess Livia Ashi!

THE DIPLOMACY OF KALAHARI

The world can be a dangerous place, filled with ruthless rulers ready to execute rather than lead, to attack rather than protect, to use rather than set free. But good King Hassan stands against this type of ruler, and swears to protect and defend all Kalaharians from such mindless barbarians.

As part of  that commitment, the King reaches out diplomatically to all nation states in order to insure that we may live in peace, and by searching for trade opportunities, even prosper.

The latest nation the King has made progress with is the Socialistic Republic of Shimutoji, whose Ambassador Susannah Clare came to Kalahari for secret talks with the King. No one has the slightest idea what they talked about or decided,  except the King and the Ambassador, but we are sure it will advance the cause of Kalahari.

slave reena Returns!

All Kalaharians rejoiced at the return of slave reena to the Kingdom. As many of you recall, reena was sent on a mysterious mission to distant lands by the King, and obviously was called back for secret talks with the monarch.

THE FARM AND THE MINE: CENTRAL TO KALAHARI'S WEALTH

The engine that drives the Kalahari economy is the productive complex that citizens know as the Farm and the Mine. Overseen by Princess Livia and Minister Magdy Ashi, and staffed by slaves Abu and Gabi, these twin powerhouses produce most of the material wealth that allows the King to provide housing, medical care, and nutritious food not just to citizens but to slaves as well.

In addition, the recent extensive renovations to the Kingdom were possible because of the profits made from our Mining and Farming enterprises. While future editions of the Chronicles will study the economic impact of the Farm and the Mine in greater detail, for now it is enough to note that our recent diplomatic initiatives to the Micronations have as a major goal opening up new markets for our agricultural and mining exports.

The Kingdom's Ministry of External Relations has been busy with talks involving various nations and information services. The latest round of talks are scheduled with Susannah Clare, Shimutoji's Ambassador to Kalahari.

􀀁

Evidently the security apparatus of the Ministry for External Relations has also been active lately, though Minister al Abid, usually quite talkative, remained close lipped on that part of the Ministry's operations.

In addition there were rumors that the King had taken sick, and he was not seen at his usual late evening audience for all the inhabitants of the Kingdom. But the Palace issued a strong statement on the matter, declaring in part that the King was "hearty enough to lift up over his head the Emir of Kuwar," which certainly is a testimony to the strength and vigor of our ruler!

Minister Magdy visited and learned that some of the Farm animals were ill. The Minister managed to save all but two bosks. He also protected the Kingdom against a strange visitor, a "bird drone" named The Raven. Everything ended up well, but it is good to see the various resources of the Kingdom alert to any threats, especially given the state of war that exists among some of the Micronations. As it turned out, The Raven came with peaceful intentions, sent as a scout by Methos the Anubis, but it is just as well the other nations learn that Kalahari is not to be trifled with when matters of defense are at stake.

Ambassador Susannah Clare of the Socialist Republic of Shimutoji, on behalf of her Premier Takeo H. Kanashimi, contacted our Ministry of External Relations. Shimutoji is engaged in a conflict, and, as King Hassan is a man of peace, any contacts that can further the cause of peace will be pursued by the Kingdom. So talks between the Ambassador and the Ministry for External Relations will soon be opened.

MEDIEVAL MURMURS

Diplomacy has been the focus for the King in recent days, although he spent some time yesterday neglecting his state duties and understandably studying the dancing technique of Sonia Tairov, Cindy, and sylvie Serenity.

Today, a visitor appeared and was ushered into the Palace for high-level talks with the King himself. The visitor made the mistake of insulting Princess Livia, and barely escaped the wrath of the Princess and Minister Magdy, but finally made his way to the Palace in one piece.

Minister for External Relations Afraa al Abid was unusually tight lipped about the talks, but simply announced  that this visitor fit into the long range diplomatic plans of the King, and in true Kalahari fashion, merged trade considerations, and benefits for Kalahari agriculture, with humanitarian concerns.

All inhabitants of the Kingdom will look forward to hearing about this mystery man and his mission.
