SLAVE RUN
(The tune is Good King Wenceslas if you know that Christmas hymn)
_________________________________________________________________

When Good King Hassan looked out, on a Sunday PM,
Slow and tired were the folk, as they trudged around,
So the Monarch shouted out, "Let us see the slaves run,
When one crosses the line first, he will have won!"

So they set out from the Gardens, to the Slave Quarters,
Slave Druslan and slave Henry, fast off the starters.
Past the Med Center did they run, past the Temple too,
Then they reached the Slave Quarters, halfway through.

Heading home they strained and pushed, each desiring the prize,
Loser eats only gruel, winner steak and pies!
Gasping, stumbling, Druslan, conquered his fears,
And he beat poor Henry, too, to our loud cheers!

So all slaves take heed, listen to the King,
Obey your betters well, and win the Golden Ring _________________________________________________________________

They will be singing this song for ages into the future, the day King Hassan treated the members of the Kingdom to the First Slave Race, which this reporter hopes will become a Kalahari Tradition.

What better situation could there be? A kind Monarch who wishes to entertain his people, two robust slaves, freed from their duty in the Mine, to compete for food and drink.

So the race began in the Palace Garden, with a loud and enthusiastic crowd cheering on one champion or another, and the slave sprinters eager to begin.

The King called "Go" and off they went, speeding almost faster than the eye could see. And back they came, with Druslan winning clearly and fairly. The excited crowd gathered at the Slave Quarters for a victory celebration, and both slaves were granted hearty meals.

SLAVE ENTERTAINMENT

Slaves in Kalahari are not just treated well when they win, but also when they work hard and are productive. Oftentimes they are treated to entertainments themselves. Such was the case for slaves Henry and rino, who were taken on an aerial tour of the Kingdom by the expert piloting of slave reena in The Flying Leaf. Quite a change from the Mine, isn't it slave boys? ahahaha

JUSTICE CENTER DISPLAY

Any Kingdom, any nation in fact, can be judged by its system of Justice. If the common citizen, or even the slave is mistreated, then there is room for growth and improvement in the nation that allows any such injustice.

Kalahari is rightly proud of its new Justice Center, and all Kalaharians are confident that the stewardship of the King, the Minister of Justice Livia, and the peace keepers in the Royal Guard will insure Justice for All.

As a symbol of that commitment to Justice, two Guardian statues have been placed at the entrance to the Justice Center, to stand in silent vigil over all the decisions of Justice to be made in that building.

But we in Kalahari also know that some criminals and other evildoers must be punished if they are to be rehabilitated. So, another statue has been placed, deep in the bowels of the Center, where prisoners learn the error of their ways. It is the Mother of Death that teaches them!

Medieval Murmurs

In recent weeks, the residents of Kalahari have seen broad emotional sweeps. Romance blooms here, drama erupts there, evil rears its ugly head, justice is dispensed.

Sometimes, though, the simple melody of friendship is played, in peace and tranquility, when two friends sit, wordless, and listen to the melancholy strains of the Xiao.
