STATE VISIT: PRESIDENT TMARQUES HABANA, QUILOMBO DOS PALMARES
THIS THURSDAY, 5 NOVEMBER 2015
2:00 PM SLT, THRONE ROOM OF THE PALACE
Readers of the Chronicles will remember the shipwrecked mariner who was washed up on the Kalahari shore recently. Of course, this gentleman received the customary Kalaharian hospitality, and was given a ship from our fleet to take him back to his homeland.
As we discovered, that poor bedraggled refugee was no other than President Tmarques Habana of Quilombo dos Palmares! Furthermore, Palmares is renowned for being a land that welcomes refugees, people who are persecuted in some way by society: blacks, Indians, Gypsies, and other such groups. How wonderful that we in Kalahari welcomed the President in the same way he has welcomed many unfortunates into his country.
King Hassan, always searching for opportunities not only to benefit the residents of his Kingdom, but also to assist all other nations, has invited President Habana to make a State Visit for the purpose of establishing friendly relations, negotiating a trade treaty, and pursuing other cultural opportunities.
So, please come, welcome our distinguished visitor, and his Prime Minister gohan Danitz, on Thursday, 5 November 2015, at 2:00 PM SLT. The visit begins in the Throne Room in the Palace. There, the renowned dancers of Kalahari will welcome him with an exhibition of the belly dance.

BRILLIANT DANCING, CLOSE COMPETITION AND A DASH OF HUMOR!
BILL LE BRAVE, LAIA BEEBE, SLAVE DARA MAKE US ALL PROUD!
NEWLY ENGAGED CINDY PUTS OUT A LAVISH FEAST!
What a lovely Tavern Night!
Beauty, elegance, the highest form of the Belly Dance (and the lowest, ahahaha thanks Bill!), humor, close competition, and a well-earned prize marked this memorable evening.
Enthusiastic residents gathered at the Belly Dance Temple for the competition. King Hassan was joined by the newly engaged couple Cindy and John Alonso, along with Bill (Twinkletoes) Le Brave;
meanwhile Minister Afraa al Abid and Dr. Albert Ushimawa eagerly awaited the contest, while minding the "winner's prize," slave Bande Burner.
And what a competition it was. Comic relief was provided at the beginning by the well known Royal Guard/Belly Dancer "Twinkletoes" Bill Le Brave. This good sport did his best, and actually received one first place vote from the judges.
But the brilliance in the competition centered on the magnificent display put on by Fortune Teller Laia Beebe and Palace Slave dara. It was truly a battle of contrasting styles. The flowing elegance of dara
matched against the physical and athletic style of Laia.
Both girls expressed themselves in word and dance with such eloquence and beauty that the onlookers were in awe, applauding first this move, then that jump. Ooohs and Aaahs echoed throughout the Temple, and when it came to the judging, the margin was so close as to almost be a tie.
The King himself had to cast the deciding vote, and a tie was not out of the question. Even the "prize," muscular slave Bande was filled with excitement
But in the end, the King chose the winner: LAIA BEEBE!
The happy crowd retreated to the Tavern where music and dancing and singing continued well into the night. And the victorious Laia leashed her "prize," slave Bande, and led him off to the Inn for a night of, well you know!
