MEDIEVAL MURMURS
Kalahari hosts many events: state visits, weddings, belly dance displays, mud wrestling matches, combat games, return celebrations and so on.
The thread which binds all of these events together is the innate hospitality and welcome that infuses all the inhabitants of Kalahari, from the King and Queen, down to the humblest of slaves. The Kingdom is a place of welcome, whose creativity and initiative is first put at the service of the outcasts, the refugees, those who seek hope and peace in their lives.
And so it was when poor Prince Animter Al Sharif, of the Oasis of Samarian arrived on our shores, hungry, exhausted, and haunted by memories that will stay with him for the rest of his life.
Yes, the very same Prince Animter whose father Sherif Wali Al Sharif was murdered by ruthless revolutionaries, and whose mother and brother are still imprisoned by these fanatics.
Many a tear was shed as the residents of Kalahari gathered to hear the Prince's sad tale. But after the King assured him of sanctuary in Kalahari, that he was safe, and after Cindy fed him some of her special treats, the Prince regained the strength of spirit for which the Al Sharif family is known.
Surrounded by the King and Queen, Dr Eagor, Minister Afraa, Manager Cindy, bell and slaves feather and dara, the Prince relaxed, and soon found his way to the room prepared for him at the Delicious Syrup Inn to seek the rest he so badly needed.
