The history of nations and their relations is filled with conflict, rancor, and hatred. Rulers rise and fall, soldiers fight and die, civilians suffer, societies crumble. How much sadness is generated by this sort of conflict, disagreement, and misunderstanding.

It is therefore a great pleasure for the Chronicles to report that two nations stand out from this brutal and vicious cycle of pain and suffering, and even more, that they do so peacefully and with a great sense of sisterhood and brotherhood.

The Sisterhood of Valnor, and Mamlakat Kalahari share some national characteristics: a love of beauty, extraordinary rulers, the importance of hard work and loyalty, productivity from every citizen and slave, But differences are there as well: though both nations can easily defend themselves against aggressors, Valnor emphasizes its military component more than the Kingdom. Valnor is older and more populous than Kalahari. And most significantly, Valnor celebrates female dominance, while Kalahari is led by a strong and able King. (Hmm female dominance what a marvelous idea! Oh, no the King is a reader! Just teasing, Your Highness. ahahaha.)

Yet every difference can be surmounted when nations, and their rulers enter into a relationship seeking equality, justice, and fairness for both parties. And so it was, when the powerful Sisterhood of Valnor welcomed a diplomatic contingent from Kalahari Kingdom. The Kalahari contingent gathered at the Delicious Syrup Inn, excited and curious, nourished by the delicious food prepared by Manager Cindy.

Excitement builds before we depart for Valnor

Waiting for us in Valnor was the beautiful Goddess Phaedra Sautereau, whose powerful influence was felt in every detail of our visit, especially the warmth and hospitality with which we were greeted.

High Priestess Broken Swords led the Valnor Welcoming Committee with a warm greeting, directly after the Royal Family, and the rest of the Kalahari party, debarked from the handsome vessel Valnor uses to welcome important delegations. But the high point of the arrival was the meeting of the Goddess and the King and Queen.

and warmly welcomed

And the wonderful connection between rulers, spread to all those who gathered in the Bottoms Up Tavern.

Tavern Manager Cindy took this opportunity to study the operation of the Bottoms Up, confirming what High Priestess Broken Swords stated at the welcome: the most important person in a country is the Tavern Manager! (oops, now I have the King AND the Goddess after me!)

Our gracious hosts showed us many delightful aspects of their land, including this lovely stream, surrounded by the well cared for buildings, bridges, and windmills

Beautiful!

But the Highlight of the tour was the females' visit to the Temple of the Goddess, while the King worked on the details of the commercial treaty with Head Merchant Shura Sharpesworth. Queen Vi, Princess Livia, and Minister Afraa, in particular, were stunned with the magnificent elegance of the Temple.

Stunning say Queen, Princess, and Minister

in every way!

By the end of the day, the Kalaharians had been nourished in every way--beauty, warm hospitality, food and drink--and made their happy way home to the Kingdom. The King and the Goddess made a joint announcement that a commercial treaty had be signed, in which Valnor and Kalahari exchanged carts of G&S goods to be on sale at each other's nation.

Our warmest thanks go out to Goddess Phaedra Sautereau, Head Merchant Shura Sharpesworth, High Priestess Broken Swords, Scribe/Librarian Lady Izlix, and all of the residents and slaves of Valnor, and we eagerly await their visit to our humble but welcoming land.

AND SPECIAL THANKS TO LADY IZLIX WHO MADE ALL THE ARRANGEMENT FOR OUR TRIP

Here, Lady Izlix, Scribe and Libarian of Valnor, greets the visitors of Kalahari, surrounded by two slaves.

The Talented Lady Izlix

And in an amusing twist, the slaves of Kalahari were surprised to learn that the slaves of Valnor all work as hard and as physically as do the Mine slaves in our Kingdom. Slaves like Henry, Tasme, dara, Druslan: beware! ahahaha

In an amusing postscript to the day, slave Tasme wandered into the Abydos Pyramid and was foolishly trapped and injured. Princess Livia responded with her usual generous bravery, but after bees, scorpions, and flying daggers attacked her, she had to call in her turn for assistance from Sir Kal Garnet, the First Royal Guard, who, though injured, finally brought the operation to a successful conclusion.
