THE MINE
As a peaceful and prosperous Kingdom, Kalahari has several sources of income that allows it to offer top quality housing and free medical care to all of its inhabitants: free citizens, and even slaves!
Two sources of income, however, stand out above the rest. One is the Farm, where careful husbandry by Princess Livia, and Minister Magdy, with great assistance from slaves Gaby and Abu, keep animals cared for, crops produced, food cooked, and profits made.
But perhaps an even greater producer of wealth is the Mine, the special "kingdom" of slave Abu. Enormous profits are made by the King, for the Kingdom, in the trade of gold, copper, and iron from the rich veins that lie below the Kingdom.
But the mining of these riches takes great effort, mainly by the muscular slaves who do the hard physical labor necessary to draw these treasures from the earth. In fact, Kingdom wits sometimes call it "the boy pit," in mocking admiration of these hard men, bent to the will of their owners, whose physical effort is poured forth for the good of the Kingdom.
Let us learn about these men by studying the journey of a slave.
JOURNEY OF THE SLAVE
slave Henry Colclough is an example of the slave's journey. He came to the Kingdom bewildered, looking for direction, nothing to offer but a muscular body. Here he is as Minister Afraa brings him to the Mine so Princess Livia can give him some kindly direction.
Princess Livia immediately takes him in hand, ready to give him the direction he needs, and that the Kingdom desires for him, and others like him.
Soon, he is put to work, his days as muscular nobody gone, his path toward useful production begun.
But he soon begins to learn from his environment, what he must do, and what he may never do. What he must do is work hard, every minute, of every hour, of every day. While Henry begins his labors, slave Druslan works hard, and soft slave Fluffy falls down out of weakness. But Princess Livia is there to help him with the gentle encouragement he so richly deserves.
And what he must never do is be a soft and lazy slave, who does not work to his full potential. Princess Livia knows how to make an example of those types!
And the encouragement offered by Princess Livia extends to Henry now as well. She gives him the proper working clothes, and proper tools to accomplish his goals for the day. And she is there herself, with gentle words of endearment and praise.
And with slaves who work hard without complaining, like Druslan, the Princess treats them with care and affection, using the leather of the whip to caress, rather than punish.
And so the rhythm of slave life, and Kingdom profitability, continues. Strong hardened men are controlled and worked until they drop, and then do it again the next day. And when more men are needed, they appear, and the productive process begins again. Slave-to-be Alton Lorefield, reporting for duty!

Male slaves are not the only gender worthy of slavery in the Kingdom. Jana, an orphan from the western world. was put on a ship that sailed to SAG and was to be auctioned. The glorious King Hassan decided to bring her to the Kingdom to see "if the wonderful people can teach me to be a responsible member of your society."
After being surveyed by Minister Afraa
she is placed in the charge of Sir Kal Garnet, who begins to tutor her in the proper ways of a female slave in the Kingdom.
THE LATEST NEWS OF COMBAT TRAINING
Sir Kal Garnet has proceeded with remarkable speed to advanced combat training. Commander Livia believes, if he continues at his present pace, he might be worthy to serve as the first Royal Guard!
