BREAKING NEWS!!!

                !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KIDNAPPERS SEND PORTRAITS OF ABUSED MINISTER!
AFRAA WOUNDED IN HER ABDUCTION!
KIDNAPPERS DISPLAY RUTHLESSNESS!
IS A KALAHARI INSIDER AIDING VICIOUS ABDUCTORS?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE FOLLOWING PORTRAITS LEFT BY KIDNAPPERS ARE HORRIBLE!
NO CHILDREN OR SPINELESS PEOPLE SHOULD VIEW THESE PICTURES!

The Kalahari editorial staff has of course been devoting all of their resources (well, most of them, anyway: some people are jockeying for position as the next Kalahari Herald, should the worst happen! ahahaha) to discovering every bit of information they can, from official AND unofficial sources.

Palace insiders report that the kidnappers left a package of portraits, concealed in a calfskin bag, that was brought to the Palace for inspection by the investigative division. It is said that when the King saw the pictures, he turned pale, and immediately retired with the Palace Slaves to the Royal Bedroom, presumably to plot the downfall of the evildoers.

The grisly pictures showed three separate aspects of the abduction.

1. The Capture

Minister Afraa with her broad knowledge of all animals in Africa, was evidently interested in seeing a Senegal Parrot, but with unusual coloring. The pirates, however, revealed that they use this trained bird to chirp "See the pretty lady." as a clever diversion, while one of the pirates sneaks up behind the prey in order to capture their victim, usually with financial gain in mind.

As Afraa has never yet failed to hear a compliment, the buccaneers' insidious plan worked to perfection, as one of their number crept up behind her, slashed her with a sword, wounding her

and quickly binding the helpless Afraa.

They evidently dragged the Minister to their pirate ship anchored off shore, and began their brutal interrogation of the lovely captive.

2. The Interrogation

It is obvious from these portraits that Afraa was severely wounded during her capture, and the abductors wasted no time in abusing her further. Their first move was to strap her to the mainmast, and let the gagged woman bleed, thereby weakening her resistance, they thought. (One of the pirates left a note in the calfskin bag, expressing grudging admiration for the mouthy Minister's vocabulary, claiming she taught the pirates some curses even THEY had never heard! "Aye, quite a mouth on that one," he wrote, "I'd hate to be the one in charge of her! The gag was the only thing that gave us some relief."

In the previous drawing, you can see the slash wounds the pirate's sabre inflicted on Afraa, but the following shows in grisly detail how the festering wounds were allowed to drip as they abused Afraa, clearly not interested in anything she had to say. (In this way, rather similar to the King!! ahahaha)

The gruesome torture continued as the pirates clearly decided to make an example of the weakness of Kalahari by freely abusing its Minister for External Relations

even to the extent of approaching her with a knife, and clearly coming close to finishing off the helpless Afraa.

Evidently, the pirates decided that the Minister was worth more to them alive than dead, so they cleaned her wounds with rum, which evidently caused screams heard by the kidnappers even through the gag. They dropped her in the dingy hold of their ship

and then caged Afraa in some secret dungeon.

3. The Cage

As the pirates now realized their captive was worth a large ransom, they evidently treated her with some medicines, and keeping her in a secret location, feel that she is a safe investment.

So we leave Afraa alone, undoubtedly in pain, fearful for her life, and wondering if the King and her friends in Kalahari will find her, or at least meet the ransom demands of the ruthless buccaneers.

4. The King's Response

Little does our heroic Minister realize that the King is eagerly trying to track her down, and take his vengeance upon the evil kidnappers. His first move was to lure the abductors into a false sense of security by mounting a lantern in the Kalahari Harbor, showing that he was willing to meet the kidnapper's demands.

But while the King signals ransom, he also has unleashed all the weapons of Kalahari in a desperate attempt to rescue his tortured Minister. In fact, he has called into action the Royal Dog Calni, internationally known for sniffing out runaway slaves, to see if he could sniff out a kidnapped Minister as well. The Tavern Manager Roberta, whose responsibility will include baking the coffee cream pies necessary for the ransom, and the faithful First Girl dara, observe as the King relies on his most loyal friend for advice. In this case, the Kingdom "going to the dogs" is a hopeful sign! ahahahaha!
