KING ANNOUNCES ROYAL COUNCIL!
STUNNING DEVELOPMENT: HE SELECTS ALL CANDIDATES!
EHLINE, NILASSO, SAMAIRA VALENTINA, STEPHANIE BROWN
King Hassan showers Candidates with Praise
Dear
Residents,
After
reading the statements and speeches of the five candidates for the elections, your King was overwhelmed with a pride for his residents, and he was excited by
the offers to take up activities or work out ideas. He re-counted his treasure
box and calculated if it was possible to have a Royal Council consisting of
7 people (including Ministers). After long calculations, your King found a
solution with limited effect on his budget. By switching 100% to local tea
blends, the Palace housekeepers will save enough money to pay the expenses of 7
Council members.

| The Voice of the People! |
Thus,
I declare that the Royal Council of Kalahari will consist of seven members,
chaired by Minister Afraa al Abid. In voting, the vote of Minister al Abid has
the same weight as any other member. The priority in decision making will be:
1)
If the King is present, he decides
2)
If the King is out of the country and the Queen is present,
Queen Dara will
decide
3)
If possible the King or Queen will take the advice of the Council into account
4)
If neither the King nor the Queen is in our land, the Council can take
decisions with a majority of 4 (out of 7) votes.
Following
residents will be nominated to the Council.
Ehline
Nilasso
Stephanie
Brown
Samaira
Valentina
Willow
Minister
Afraa al Abid
Minister
Magdy
Apart
from taking decisions I also expect the Royal Council to come up with new ideas
and support the further development of our land.
I
expect everyone to fully support the new Royal Council members in the execution
of their tasks
Hassan
ibn Trrrol, Lion of the Desert, King of Kalahari.
All glory to Kalahari!

ROYAL COUNCIL CANDIDATE SPEECHES
ROYAL COUNCIL CANDIDATE SPEECHES
(Sadly, Samaira Valentina's speech was lost at sea, but we will allow her to repeat it before all Kalaharians when she returns from her sea journey.)
EHLINE
My lovely people!
You all know me, Ehline the advisor to our strong King,
advisor to our magic Finance Minister Magdy, almost wife to the famous doctor Ali Bin
Haci and former Minister of Wine and Cakes.
After my success as a Minister, I am now a candidate for the Kalahari Royal
Council.
My greatest achievement as Minister was the popular extra
tax on wine. It made the Kalaharians sober up and stopped the violence on the
streets. It also made it possible for me to buy a beautiful new tiara!
If I get elected I will work for the following suggestions.
* a male dance
contest that will bring a new cultural form to Kalahari
* a law that says
that a man that makes a woman pregnant must marry her
* an investigation
into the demon problem in Kalahari
* a law that does
not allow any houses to be higher than Doctor Ali's.
I will also work for any other suggestion you have, for a
special fee.
To help you vote for the right person I will say something
about the other candidates.
My friend lady Samaira is one of them. I am sorry to say
she might not be the right woman for the job. We all know that Samaira got her
house filled with wine barrels but has refused an inspection from the Minister
of Wine and Cakes. So, what is she doing with all that wine? Let us all help
Samaira with her drinking problem!
Another candidate is my friend lady Nilasso. French is an
important language in diplomacy. I am afraid that Nila's French is horrible. I
have never understood a word she says in French. I therefore don´t think she
could work in the council.
I don´t know the other candidates but guess that they are
just slaves and are not to be taken seriously.
Finally, you should know that I am a big donor to my former
secretary Afraa's welfare fund. That will probably make it possible for me to
see how you all vote. My father, Harbormaster Thorgrim, wants to see his
daughter on the Council. When I give him the list of all that did not vote for
me, I am worried that he will whip them! I hope you all think about this.
For the King and Kalahari! Ehline to the Council!
NILASSO
To all the people of Kalahari:
Recently, the King decides to create a Royal Council and to
convoke all people of Kalahari to elect some members of this Council. It’s an important duty, requiring a mix of
experience, new ideas, and determination.
As manager of the Kalahari Garden of 1001 Pleasures, I have
already shown my good knowledge of Kalahari, and I have developed many projects
to improve our nice Kingdom. Now, I
would like to continue in this way and contribute to develop our Kingdom, in
the respect of all the people of Kalahari, as member of the Royal Council.
If I have some ideas on the development of our Kingdom,
including the creation of a cultural pole with a museum and a theater and the
development of new shops (barbers, drugstore), I think it’s especially
important to consult the people of Kalahari (by a survey or otherwise) to see
what they expect from our kingdom. Then we will make a coherent development
plan. The King, the Ministers and many others are making great efforts to
improve our kingdom, but we must also hear the voice of the people because the
great wealth of Kalahari is the people of Kalahari!
In addition, our projects and reforms must meet this criterion: Be sure that people have fun to come in our
beautiful kingdom because the great wealth of Kalahari is the people of
Kalahari!
I hope that our people will vote in large numbers during
the elections, and that I will be able to deserve their trust for the important
role of representing them on the Council.
Thank you, Nilasso
STEPHANIE BROWN
I believe that I could make a real contribution to the
Kingdom of Kalahari if I was elected to the Council, most the citizens of
Kalahari know me as the manager of the prison, but I am also work voluntarily
in the mines and so have experience in dealing with both full Kalahari citizens
and also slaves.
I am not standing as a candidate for the Council for
personal gain but to ensure that the Kingdom is ruled in a safe and legitimate
way for all citizens no matter how high or low they may be. I have noticed that
this does not always happen and innocent people have been subjected to
imprisonment and even made slaves on the word of others who themselves are not
exactly innocent of, shall we say, indiscreet behaviour at the very least. If I
was elected as a member of the council I would make it my duty to ensure that
Kalahari is run for the well-being of all its citizens and that justice was
fair for everyone.
Stephanie Brown: Prison Manager
WILLOW
Greetings to everyone present.
I am very honored to be a candidate for the Council of
beautiful Kalahari, and I hope to represent all its residents and visitors. I
also thank King Hassan lbn Trrol for
reviving the Council and making this possible for us.
As a member of the Council I would like to help Kalahari be
even more attractive.
If I am elected to the Council, I will gladly put my energy
into maintaining and renewing furniture that is broken or out of date. Even
though we live here in the year 1550, maintenance is still necessary to keep
things current.
In consultation with others on the Council, I also want to
find suitable music to make dancing more pleasant, and to give life to quiet
places. Of course, it would be music that fits the time in which we live.
Also, I would like to make improvements to the public
buildings in Kalahari. I would like to modernize some of the furniture, add
better animations. That would make the public buildings more attractive to both
residents and visitors of Kalahari.
Gardening is a big hobby of mine, both in RL and in SL. I
can also contribute in landscaping Kalahari.
If the Council needs me in other areas, they can count on
me.
Thank you.
Willow: Slave of Peace Furst
And of course these Council members join
SAMAIRA VALENTINA
MINISTER MAGDY
AFRAA AL ABID.
Glory to Kalahari!
Reaction to the King's Decision is wildly popular!
Afraa,
I would like to send a press release for the Kalahari Herald Chronicle:
"To all the people of Kalahari:
I would like to thank the King for his wise decision to nominate my highly valued and respected colleagues (Ehline, Samaira, Stephanie, and Willow) and myself to the Royal Council.
I’m sure that we share the great determination to help the King and the Ministers to develop our wonderful Kingdom and to make the people of Kalahari proud of their representatives on the Council.
Thanks to all people who supported us during the electoral process."
Glory to Kalahari!
