SPRING FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS!
SPECIAL EDITION

Kingdom of the Arts

King Hassan ibn Trrrol has placed artistic creativity as a central focus of his reign. Dance and music are especially emphasized, so it was no surprise when the King rushed back from his tour of military defenses on the southern and western borders to inaugurate the First Annual Kalahari Spring Festival of the Arts.

Coming on the heels of the wildly popular Kalahari Storytelling Festival, the Spring Arts Festival displayed the broad talents of the Kingdom's artistic community in the disciplines of dance and music.

The King placed so much importance on opening the festival, he selected his favorite camel "Daria" and rode her hard to arrive for the opening of the festival. (The King is the one on top, "Daria" is the one on the bottom. hihi)

After the King's lyrical welcome, the Festival Producers Josie and Aisha North

presented a wonderful program that blended the talents of some of the greatest artists of our era.

The first performer was the famed dancer from the Emirate of Kuwar, and the one-time dance partner of Minister Afraa al Abid (ahahahaha) Cataleya Garces.

After Cat's outstanding solo dance, the mixed music/dance ensembles were brought forward to perform. The invited artist MelaShane, well known for her performances across the known world,

who joined the noted philanderer but gifted flautist Sayed MaD

in supporting the stunning display of distinguished dancers dedicated to displaying the most dazzling dance this side of Divine Heaven. This ensemble included slaves Nada and Roxe, Josie North and her partner Aisha, Afraa al Abid, Nilasso, and the traveling artist MelaShane, who joined the dancers, accompanied by MaD on the flute and watched intently by Captain Jack Docherty, who has years of experience on the Crow's nest of various errr "trading vessels."

The lovely Sophia Petronella Pfeiffer was brought on to add musical elegance.

Jack and MaD were so excited they leapt from their places with the exultation brought on by experiencing true excellence.

Finally, Afraa, Nilasso, and MelaShane stayed behind to instruct the new slave Roxe in some of the more intricate dance steps, to prepare her for the Auction on Wednesday, and bring a better price for her Owner, the lovely and talented Minister Afraa al Abid ahahahaha.

And speaking of the Auction...

KALAHARI AUCTION INFORMATION
WEDNESDAY, 22 MARCH 2017
12:30 PM SLT

AUCTION CARD:  OWNERS AND SLAVES - Wednesday, 22 March 2017   12:30 PM SLT
Slaves to be sold for 3 day or 6-hour rental unless negotiated differently by Owner, slave, and Bidder.
The always generous King Hassan I  waives the usual tax, so the Owner receives ALL of the bid.
And if you have Kalahari Kingdom in your profile picks, you will receive 125 Gold Coins from the King!
And remember. Be on time and pick up the G&S HUD at the Landing, or wear your own G&S HUD.

This card is intended to help you in your slave auction role play.

1.   There is an auction block currently set up in Kalahari, and you may want to test it to see how you would plan your role play. One suggestion would be to have the slave begin in a bound kneeling position and then slowly reveal her to the assembled bidders by displaying her on the barrel.
2.   We have allotted up to 20 minutes for each girl: 10 minutes of your speaking, highlighting the girl’s strengths and attractions and so on, and then 10 minutes for the bidding process itself. You may use less time, but anything less than 5 minutes for each of the two parts probably takes away from the role play you both deserve.
3.   Remember, Owners: you are the Auctioneer for your slave, so you are responsible for producing her slave card, with her limits, distributing it to the bidders, setting an Opening Bid, and outlining any changes from our stated rules, that this is a 3 day or 6-hour rental.
4.   Please check the Auction Card: Bidders for further information about the G&S HUD, the coins to be used for the Auction, how money is to be paid and so on. We will have people there to assist you, so do not worry! Just come and have fun, and perhaps purchase a precious prize.

AUCTION CARD:  BIDDERS, HOW AUCTION WILL WORK - Wednesday, 22 March 2017   12:30 PM SLT

A WORD ABOUT FINANCES

Kalahari uses the G&S system, and has recently opened a bank under the stewardship of the noted financier Captain Jack Docherty.

The use of these coins requires the G&S HUD, which is available free at the Kalahari Landing, and in many other sims all across SL. It is easy to learn and there is a place in the HUD to accumulate coins.

For the purposes of this auction, (and our main goal is fun RP, not profit), bidding will be done with Kalahari Gold Coins (KGC), otherwise known as the King’s doubloons. Or is it the King’s pantaloons?

Anyway, here is a chart to help you understand the G&S system, and what Kalahari Gold Coins (KGC) are worth:

1 gold nugget       =    25 KGC
20 gold nuggets    = 500 KGC               = 1 chest
1 linden                 = 100 KGC
1 gold ingot (bar)    = 10 gold nuggets  = 275 KGC (250 + 25)
(you get another 25 coins for smelting it in the foundry "as a reward").

In addition, in a burst of generosity, the King will grant every bidder who is free, Kalahari citizen or not, if you have Kalahari as one of your Profile Picks and you attend the auction, 125 KGC for purposes of bidding!

A Cashier/Banker will be available at the Auction to help you through the process.

For those who do not use all the coins at the auction, they may use them in Kalahari to give tips to brothel workers, dancers, Tavern workers etc.

So, get your slave for sale, or bring your money, and be ready for an exciting time of bidding, backstabbing, and buying!
