                           PEACE REIGNS WITHIN KALAHARI!!!

VAST CROWD GATHERS FOR CEREMONY: LION IN THE DESERT AWARD!!!

RECONCILIATION COMPLETE AS REBELS PARDONED BY KING HASSAN!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The benefits of peace were clearly evident as an enormous crowd gathered at the Kalahari Tavern for the Grand Parade of Magic Carpets, and the Ceremony in which King Hassan ibn Trrrol awarded the coveted Lion in the Desert award to the Heroes of the Rebellion. Unfortunately, the Magic Carpets used were the new stealth carpets developed by Kalahari scientists so this is what the eager crowd saw.

After the thrilling Parade, the crowd was still buzzing as they gathered for the award ceremony.

(A list of attendees includes the following: King Hassan ibn Trrrol, Nada Syuhada, dara, Captain Jack Docherty, Malika Kingbe, MOTIAA, Malaak, Skythe, Bill LeBrave, Lexi Moonstone, Rosecendre, Roberta Honey, Marianne, Tara, Razia, Motisha, oUNQo, chippi, Cianelle, breta, Marla Morgath, April,  Habib the Slave Trader, King Fis and Queen Kesenia, ILRINO, and Afraa al Abid.)

AWARDING THE LION OF THE DESERT TO THE HEROES OF THE REBELLION

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The King is a man of peace who was forced into war, and he tried to put that conflict into words in his moving award speech:

"As you know well, we have just passed through a difficult time of rebellion in Kalahari that has been concluded with victory by my supporters. As a peaceful King, I never seek war, but when it is forced upon me, I must rely on the good citizens of Kalahari, and my allies, to fight for justice and peace.

Kalahari does not maintain large military forces, or secret police, who hunt down evildoers, real or imagined. Our strength is in our people--our citizens, slaves, even Ministers, who put aside their desire for peace to fight for freedom whenever it is threatened.

Today, with great pleasure, I bestow the LION OF THE DESERT decoration to some of the most outstanding freedom fighters, and urge them to accept this on behalf of all the Kalaharians who shared their ideals and their battles.

Minister Magdy was key in communicating with our allies in Valnor, and also bravely led a detachment in the final assault on the rebels. His award will be given in absentia, as he is on secret assignment for the King.

Palace Slave Nada broke through the rebel defenses, insured our victory, and then made sure the Kingbe fortress was pacified.

Roberta Honey did her work in sight of the enemy, and without his knowledge, passed on valuable information to the King's forces so that freedom would prevail with the least amount of bloodshed.

High Priestess Tara of Valnor, with her sister warriors Razia and Justine, stayed faithful to their loyalty to Kalahari, and again showed why Valnor warriors are renowned throughout the world.

High Priestess Tara and Warrior Razia receive their award.
Warrior Justine (award given in absentia)
Finally, Captain Jack Docherty heroically refrained from all alcoholic beverages during the fight, and with his crew of the feared RED RASCAL, insured that needed supplies passed through dangerous waters to reach the Kingdom.

We honor ALL of these brave men and women and award them the LION OF THE DESERT decoration.

We also salute the vanquished foes, now all pardoned, and welcomed back as peaceful Kalaharians. In particular, I note the bravery of Malaak, and slave Skythe.

And now, let us proceed to food, drink, and dance! PEACEFUL KALAHARI FOREVER!

Kalaharians and their friends and allies rarely need a second invitation to enjoy themselves at a party. Soon the music was playing, the tables were groaning with the treats prepared by Nada and dara, and the ka-la-na flowed freely, as the following party photographs show.

And don't forget the Christmas Party: 1:00 PM SLT, Wednesday, 21 December!!!
