Dance Contest crowd gathers

As is his custom, King Hassan ibn Trrrol enjoys sponsoring events where half naked women gyrate around for the pleasure of himself and his male friends err I mean enjoys events where he can keep alive the rich cultural tradition of the belly dance as a vital social force.

And so it was when some of the best dancers in the known world (and Afraa was also there) came to Kalahari to compete in the Royal Belly Dance Contest.

A large crowd cheered the dancers on, in groups

King Hassan, Sir Franco, Sultan Suleyman, and staff

or in pairs.

And all went fabulously due to the careful organizational work previously done by Minister of Arts Nilasso, who also sang the National Anthem of Kalahari before the contest.

Minister Nilasso

Brayden Madison competed very well,

Queen Nathalie represented the Royal Family with grace,

Tina Wo performed admirably even though she was not allowed to use the whip which is a customary article in her "dancing,"

Tina Wo

Randy Quander exhibited the footwork which has kept her ahead of the police in several countries where she is "wanted for questioning,"

Randy Quander, accompanied on drums by the brilliant Jemima Larkspur

and Afraa al Abid stumbled through her routine without the accompaniment of too many boos.

But as accomplished as these performances were, they were surpassed by three superlative efforts, as the King made clear to the assembled throng. Accompanied by his judges, (Sultan Suleyman, Sheikh Robijn, Sir Peace Furst,) he made clear to all how difficult it was to choose the three prize winners.

Sir Peace Furst, in particular reflected deeply on his ballot.

Then the King announced the winners as follows: Third Prize went to the pure and traditional dance of Shamsia Abbas.

Second Prize was awarded to the sensuous display of striptease portrayed by sky

and the First Prize was awarded to Ambassador Yasemin von Engelhardt of Topkapi for her stunning dance (and silks, and body -- oh sorry I am just quoting the King's notes ahaha.)

The happy winners were joined by Tina Wo, still without her whip.  for a group portrait

The King then announced that Sultan Suleyman of Topkapi had a wonderful surprise for the assembled audience:

a performance by the Sultan on drums, and the Angelic Harpists Chaos and Myrella Cioc, joined by their Ambassador of Dance Yasemin von Engelhardt.

Once again, King Hassan has placed Kalahari in the forefront of the world-wide movement to have half-naked women dance for him!
