GATEWAY KALAHARI COMES TO LIFE!

The Gateway Kalahari Project exploded with life today as King Hassan and Queen Dara brought their impressive talents to bear on this enormous undertaking.

As Kalaharians may recall, the project includes the modernizing of the Prison and School, the movement of the Tavern and the Market to the new harbor dredged by the Royal Engineers, the building of an impressive Fort for the Royal Guard, and a Medical Clinic that the Royal Couple demanded fot the welfare of their subjects.

In the illustration above, on the lower right corner, the platform, with red arch, is the new location for the Prison. The School will remain in its present location.

In the center of the illustration, the light colored platform will be the new placement for the Tavern, while the darker platform will serve as the Market Area.

Finally, to the left, is the mighty fort of the Royal Guard, under the command of Fariq James El Kalaharian, and above that the Home and Medical Clinic of DrAliBinHaci.

The Fort will obviously provide protection for Kalahari from enemies who may approach from the sea, as well as those who might create difficulties such as thieves, pickpockets, cutpurses, escapees from the Prison and the School, and members of the Royal Family who drink too much wine. hihi

The School and Prison create a "Re-Education Zone," for those who need such guidance. Those enrolled at the School (under the educational inspiration of Lady Nada Syuhada and Sayed Azra Barkat,) will be part of "soft" re-education, while those committed to the Prison (under the Management of Lady Stephanie Brown,) will face "hard" re-education.

Finally the Market will be established by Lady Malika, and the Tavern designed by Hanna House of Trrrol.

The King is particularly happy with the establishment of the Medical Clinic, and another of Kalahari's talented healers: DrAliBinHaci.

Sayed Sanik'naan opened the doors to his house and, along with his wife Jumana and Gadha, offered tea to Minister Afraa al Abid.

And we end on a sad note. Topkapi's Ambassador to Kalahari, the beloved Yasemin von Engelhardt, is being sent on a long and dangerous diplomatic mission by her Head of State Sultan Suleyman, and as a result, will not be seen in Kalahari for quite some time.

Many of Yasemin's friends gathered at the Garden of 1001 Pleasures to wish Yasemin and safe journey, a successful mission, and an early return to Kalahari, where she and an unnamed woman can contend for the hand of the masterly Thorgrim ahahaha.

A huge crowd of those eager to view violent combat, (or sexy warriors in skimpy battle dress), descended upon the Kalahari Arena to see the multi-stage competition involving famed warriors from many different lands, and also the Royal Bedroom.

The first two stages of the competition involved the dreaded "Free-for-All," in which each fighter attempted to stay "alive" until only one competitor remained.

Two of these battles took place, and, sadly, the Chronicles' graphic artist had her scroll shot out of her hand by one of Tina Wo's errant arrows so we can only report that the winners of these stages were Libra Moon, a warrior as fierce as she is beautiful

and the gallant Sir Bill LeBrave, whose only misdeed in an honorable life was selling slave Roxe to Minister Afraa ahahaha.

The "Free-for-All" provided the sort of grand spectacle where the spectators looked here, then there, as clever warriors mixed great feats of combat artistry with clever strategies to defeat a mass of opponents. It is a salute to Sir Bill and Lady Libra that they survived these melees.

The event that most of the bloodthirsty spectators came to see was the individual combat, in which one champion matched another, using different tactics honed in many battles and close combats.

The battles each provided interesting mixture of styles. In one, Tina Wo used a bow and arrows, hoping her long distance attack would blunt the formidable skills of Libra Moon with her long sword. Libra eventually proved triumphant.

Perhaps the most prestigious combat featured the Royals: King Hassan ibn Trrrol and King Hrolf Kraki. No royal courtesy was shown in this battle, but after a close combat, the elderly monarch Hassan defeated his younger rival to advance to the next round.

The quickest match saw the merciless Requiem Meridia Nocturnal use her special two handed attack to dispatch the beautiful, compassionate, loving, kindly, elegant, intelligent (OK Afraa, enough!) Afraa al Abid.

The final match saw popular crowd favorite Sir Bill defeat the international criminal Randy Quander who probably was using this combat to hide from legal authorities in many lands. ahahaha

Thus the semifinal lineup was set: the aging King Hassan against the fierce and beautiful Libra, while the valiant Sir Bill LeBrave took on the exotic warrior Requiem Meridia Nocturnal.

In a shocking surprise, the aged Lion of the Desert summoned up one last bit of energy, probably stimulated by the beauty of his opponent, and surprised Libra Moon with an upset victory.

In the other semifinal, Sir Bill managed not to be too enamored of the beauty of HIS exotic opponent, and defeated Reki in a very efficient manner.

The Championship match, therefore, took place between two old friends and companions, who exchanged friendly compliments before the combat.

But the crowd of spectators, whose enthusiasm had been building up during the whole tournament could barely contain their excitement when these two great battlers squared off. The aging Lion of the Desert, realizing that 4 previous combats had left him at less than his best, decided to employ a uniquely unorthodox strategy.

Realizing that he could not match strength with the vibrant Sir Bill, the King broke out in one of his infamous dance moves. lurching about like a drunken sailor. His idea, of course, was to have Sir Bill double over in a disbelieving giggling fit, and then attack him when he had his opponent at a disadvantage.

Sir Bill, however, manfully resisted the temptation to laugh uproariously, kept his guard up, and finally wore down the elderly monarch for the final victory.

A proud Lady Nada Syuhada bestowed the coveted prize of slave BarbaraStager upon the happy victor, who was surrounded by his loving slaves Girl and Ume. Slave Reki consoled the gallant King, who offered heartfelt congratulations to Sir Bill. Another sterling event managed by Nada took its place in the annals of Kalahari!

The hapless King Hassan must surely have regretted all the times he mistreated his Palace Slave Nada, when he found himself hanging naked from his favorite shibari frame, listening to Head Slaver Nada Syuhada, standing behind him, as, with a quiet chuckle, she unfurled her leather whip.

While we salute the King's courage in taking part in the Slave Auction of the Free, we think it may be a long time before he "exposes" himself to such abuse again.

Nada cleverly arranged that the King would enjoy some pleasurewithnhispain, as she arranged for the beautiful Garden Dancer and Musician BUBBLES to "entertain" the King, as Nada brutally inflicted a "royal beating" on the helpless monarch.

Finally, neutral observers Princess Nathalie and Sir Johan called a halt to the whipping on compassionate grounds, and Nada complied, satisfied she had gotten her money's worth. ahahaha!

TO ASSUME COMMAND! 

Commander Fariq will begin his service with the following values in mind, as outlined by the King:

Kalahari therefore seeks a General to establish and lead the Royal Guard. The General will make sure there is a Guard in the Fort near the Garden of 1001 Pleasures, and also a Watch Tower in the Harbor, to make sure that no pirates, or other invaders, come to Kalahari without being noticed, and met with strict and firm men, knowing how to protect the Kingdom we love.

His first tasks then will therefore include building the Fort, recruiting strong, powerful, and wise warriors to serve with honor in the Guard, and then training them to defend Kalahari, and preserve her values.

We are confident that the good citizens of the Kingdom will assist the Commander as he carries out the important work the King has assigned him.

But we also are certain that Commander Fariq James El Kalaharian knows how to meet the challenge of the new and exciting:

While Kalahari awaits with great anticipation news of the further humiliations of King (slave) Hassan by his temporary Owner Lady Nada Syuhada, our beloved Minister Afraa fulfilled the final commitment of her own slavery to the ruthless warrior, Lady Rosecynder of Valnor.

After humiliating Afraa in private (see Chronicles 3#69), Lady Rosecynder called in her friends from Valnor to complete the degradation of the proud Minister. Goddess Phaedra Sautereau, HighPriestess Tara, and slaves Evily, kita, and Merlin all answered the call.

The cruel interrogation began when poor Afraa was forced to kneel before the fierce Valnorians, as they insulted her, and evaluated her qualities and capabilities to be a slave.

The interrogation did not end there as Minister Afraa was stripped and forced to display herself as a slave for sale, and various comments were made concerning her usage, and other horrid statements.

But the worst was yet to come. The Goddess of Valnor arrived, and having taken offense at some minor statements that Afraa had mentioned when Phaedra visited Kalahari -- along the lines of "You really should be a slave, Phae," and "You would look good naked," nothing insulting at all, -- Phaedra decreed that after being chained, collared, and branded, Afraa should serve the rest of her days as a slave in Valnor!

Fortunately, Afraa was able to whine and complain for a long enough period, (undoubtedly, behavior learned from her slave Roxe,) that the time of her slave service ran out before the terrible sentence could be imposed. Clever diplomat and international lawyer that she is, Afraa managed to escape by running naked through an unguarded doorway, and made her way back to Kalahari without incident.

All Kalaharians are called upon to write Goddess Phaedra Sautereau and HighPriestess Tara, and formally protest the wretched treatment imposed on the gentle and benevolent Minister Afraa! ahahaha

KALAHARI INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONSTRUCTION

King Hassan has issued special building code instructions for all those who have objects in the public areas of Kalahari. Such objects are to be made available to the King and his architects and engineers, as they continue to make Kalahari the most beautiful Kingdom in the known world.

Here is what you need to do:

To change an object’s group: right click your object.

Under general tab there is a listing Group under 'Last Owner' name.

Click the Tools button next to Group and 

choose the group Kalahari Kingdom.

Then click the Share Box under the Group Kalahari Kingdom. This allows your objects in public spaces to be moved in cases where the King or his assistants need to re-do a particular area.
