ROYAL WEDDING A TRIUMPH!

HUGE THRONG SALUTES ROYAL COUPLE

 IN KALAHARI PALACE GARDENS

Women Gather at Bath House for Ritual Bath of Bride

Men Gather at Tavern for Pre-Wedding Celebration

King meets Kahya Dara to escort her to the Wedding Ceremony

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BATH HOUSE RITUAL

It is traditional in Kalahari weddings that the bride and her female friends gather to prepare her for the wedding and her husband. And so it was that numerous of Dara's loved ones gathered to bathe her, and dress her, in preparation for the great event.

The nervous bride seemed comforted by her friends and their support

even when some of them are notorious like Ambassador Randy Quander of Meyonia, or as elegant as Minnie of the Lost Jungle of the Maya.

The bathing part of the ceremony is clearly only for female eyes

but the end result was a beautiful bride, prepared to meet the King.

BATH HOUSE

While the women were preparing Dara for the ceremony, some of the King's male friends were "preparing" him, though water had no role in THIS ritual.

Those near the Tavern tell of loud bellowing, the clink of tankards, roars of laughter, and some jokes better left untold to the general audience who reads the Chronicles.

MAD the Barbarian, and Hrugar Hrolf Kraki
Finally, just in time for the ceremony, the King and his friends staggered to the ceremony, fortunately not losing their way between the Tavern and the Palace Gardens.

INTRODUCTION

When King Hassan met his bride, there remained one task before they could marry: uncollaring her, and granting her freedom.

Afraa al Abid: “My dear fellow Kalaharians and honored guests, it is so good to see you all to be part of the wonderful event we celebrate today. In a dangerous world as we live in during these perilous times, we look for signs of rebirth, for a springtime that will allow all people to welcome and support each other, to accept and care for each other, to love each other.”

UNCOLLARING CEREMONY

"But before the King takes Dara as his Queen, he must "uncollar" her, free her from slavery, and declare her a citizen of Kalahari. Majesty?"

King: “Kneel my girl.”

Tenderly, the King brought his hands over Dara’s hair and slowly lowers them until he feels the collar around her neck. With one hand, he unlocked the collar and took it from Dara’s neck. He softly stroked the marks that were caused by so many years of slavery. "You gained your independence by so many years of perfect service and by your continuous effort to do the things that you should do even before the King or Queen would ask it." ....
"You guided the Palace slaves and acted as example to all that serve"
......    "The collar is for the fish, who will be delighted to taste a fragrance of Dara’s always perfumed skin; I will never use this collar again!!

Then he threw the collar with a fierce sweep into the sea. "Free you are, from now on"

Dara stood, at last, and forever, a free woman.

CEREMONY

Afraa: "Today, our beloved Monarch King Hassan ibn Trrrol and his Kahya Dara model for us what such love must be to succeed. We join them, and we pledge our support to them as they face the world together."

“Hassan ibn Trrrol and Dara, you have come together in the Palace Gardens of this Kalahari Community so that in the presence of the Community, your intention to enter into Marriage may be strengthened by all present with a sacred seal, and your love be enriched with our blessings upon you, so that you may have strength to be faithful to each other for ever and assume all the responsibilities of married life. And so, in the presence of the Kalahari Community, I ask you to state your intentions.”

And then, at the heart of the wedding, Dara, and the King, exchanged vows.

MARRIAGE VOWS

Dara: “On the day I arrived, I met you... I had never met a King before and didn't know how to behave. I don’t know if you remember but that day, because of some risk, we went to the pyramid with some citizens and slaves. We all spent the night there, and to my surprise, you decided to sleep resting your head in my lap.

From that day, my first day in Kalahari, you captured my heart and I didn’t oppose with any resistance. Since that day my King, my heart and soul belong to you.

Today, I am complete. I promise to love and respect you with all my heart. I will always love you my King, my friend, my love, and will be at your side to make Kalahari even better day after day. I will be your friend, your lover, your soulmate in good and bad days. What we have today is more than a dream come true, but at your side we can build new dreams every day.”

Dara took the King´s hands between hers, and kissed them gently, with a smile.

As the audience heard these beautiful words, many a sob could be heard, and tears observed, even on the hardest faces.

King Hassan: "Queen Vi and myself have raised you, Dara, from the level of a simple slave girl towards Kahya, and after that I managed to develop you to the level of a true Queen. I pledge in honesty and sincerity, to do all that is in my power, and to use everything which is in my possession, to develop you further into a Goddess. A Goddess for me .... but especially a Goddess for the residents of Kalahari"

Afraa: "You have pledged your love and fidelity to each other so beautifully. I call on all here present to stretch their hands and hearts over the beloved couple as i say the words of blessing:"

“May the blessing of light be upon you,
Light on the outside,
Light on the inside.
With God's sunlight shining on you,
May your heart glow with warmth,
Like a blazing fire
that welcomes friends and strangers alike.
May the light of God shine from your eyes,
Like a candle in the window,
Welcoming the weary traveler,
To Kalahari, where All are welcome.”

Then Afraa announced the bridal couple:

"I present to you:"

“Royal Majesties Hassan ibn Trrrol and Dara Khsan ibn Trrrol.”
(Dara Khsan ibn Trrrol means Pearl of Wisdom Shining over Trrrol)

THE FLAME DANCE

"The Kalahari Dancers will lead the Royal Couple past the honored guests."

Afraa: "AND NOW, THE KALAHARI DANCERS PERFORM THE "FLAME DANCE" SYMBOLIZING THE LIGHT, PASSION, AND WARMTH THE ROYAL COUPLE PLEDGE TO SHARE WITH ALL IN KALAHARI."

And with that, the flower of Kalahari dancing burst onto the scene, torches waving wildly, as they gyrated among the guests,

and dancing energetically to the savage drumbeats that accompany the Flame Dance, and more than one solemn gentleman, or noble woman, (or in the case of Quander, ignoble, ahahaha) found themselves swaying to the relentless beat, warmed and enlightened by this brilliant display.

NILASSO GIFT AND SONG:

((Nilasso: speech to present the gift))

"First of all, I would like to congratulate the newlyweds on my own behalf, on behalf of the Garden of 1001 Pleasures and, I am sure, on behalf of all the inhabitants and visitors of Kalahari. I wish you happiness and love!

Besides, you will allow me to make a special mention to the bride. Like all those who know her, I am convinced that with her intelligence, her wisdom and her kindness, Dara will be a wonderful wife and an excellent queen. Vive le Roi (long live the King), Vive la Reine (long live the Queen) et vive les mariés ! (long live the married couple!)

I would invite Tina who found and placed the wedding gift, and did a great job in the preparation of this event, like many other people in Kalahari, to take off the screen and show us the wedding gift.

I invite the King and Queen to sit on the swing, while I sing a song of love. But remember that we are in public, the procreation of an heir can still wait a bit!"

((Nilasso takes her lute and begins to sing:))

As they listened to the ballad sung by Nilasso, the King and Queen relaxed in the Garden Swing, the wedding gift from Nilasso and Tina Wo.

Je vais t’aimer (Michel Sardou)

Je vais t'aimer, je vais t'aimer. (I will love you, I will love yo

THE PARTY!

It is difficult to say what was the highlight of Reception. For the entirely objective scribe who is writing this article, it clearly was the food and drink supplied by Lady Elyssa Kalaratri, Lady Stephanie Brown, Anette CapriHorn, and the Kahya Dara herself!

For others, it was for the chance to share once more a closeness with wives, lovers, old friends, and a chance to renew that most powerful force in our world: Love.

The beautiful Queen greets the Best Man in Kalahari: Abu

King Hassan ibn Trrrol and Sera Rajal, his oldest friend

Nilasso and Leighanne

Many commented on the diversity of Kalahari, and that also was on full display, as men and women, slaves and free, the deeply religious and those not religious at all, black, brown, white--all come together to celebrate the happy event.

Sayed Sanik'naan

Sasa

Sir Wolf

The Former Lady Roxelana Chronander
The Best Man of Kalahari, Abu, of course was the center of female attention, especially arrayed in the lovely new outfit he acquired just for the celebration. He was especially proud that the Queen had gifted him with a salve that magically removed the unsightly tattoo he had endured on his chest.

But finally, the treasures of Kalahari: its residents, friends, allies, and even sometime enemies, gathered and enjoyed, and displayed the sort of community that the King and Queen have pledged to build.

And then, they were gone, on their honeymoon

with faithful slave Tina Wo, obviously heavily involved in the honeymoon.
